Our finest cultural institution has returned when we needed it most. Time to be annoying about “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

I’ve carefully studied the two premiere episodes of Season 17. Before the competition really gets going in Episode 3 tonight (7 p.m. Central, only on MTV™), here’s my read on every queen in this season’s cast. This isn’t a power ranking, per se — just my gut feelings about strangers. I’m right, tho!

If you don’t watch “Drag Race,” pretend this is fantasy football, or like, “The Running Man” for gay people.

  1. Sam Star: Putting the harm in Southern charm. Demonic aura, especially the barely ironic use of patriotic imagery. Assume she runs a paramilitary Swiftie stan account on Twitter, or wants to.
